Anti-trafficking Week launched in Moldovan capital

Chisinau, 18 October /MOLDPRES/ - A national campaign, Week of fighting the trafficking of human beings, today was launched in Moldova, in the context of marking the European Anti-trafficking Day.
The campaign is held on 18-25 October, both at the central level and locally, in order to raise public’s awareness about the risks and consequences of the trafficking of human beings (THB), the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
The event started with the holding of a flash-mob organized by the centre for combating the trafficking of human beings, in partnership with public institutions, a group of young people and the financial support of the International Organization for Migration and OSCE Missions in Moldova. Attending the event were representatives of the centre for combating the trafficking of human beings, Health, Labour and Social Protection Ministry, as well as of NGOs. The participants stressed the specific feature of the work of the institutions they represent, in order to prevent and fight THB. Also, they unveiled the measures each citizen can undertake, in order not to become victim of this offence.
Within the Week of fighting the trafficking of human beings, a string of activities will be carried out in more regions of Moldova, such as: seminars, roundtables, job fairs, public lectures for migrants and young people, as well as diverse activities to inform pupils from more education institutions of Moldova.
