Chisinau, 19 October /MOLDPRES/- Moldova will have a Permanent Representation to the World Tourism Organization (WTO), within the Moldovan Embassy in Spain. Violeta Agrici, Moldovan Ambassador to Spain, was accredited as a permanent representative.
According to the Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure, the establishment of the Representation will contribute to sustainable tourism development and will strengthen Moldova’s position within the WTO.
Minister of Economy and Infrastructure Chiril Gaburici welcomed the establishment of the Representation, noting that the country’s promotion as a tourist destination is a strategic goal of the Republic of Moldova. “Our wines are getting better every year and are on the map of quality wines from all over the world. In the Wine Route guide, we have 15 wineries and by next year we will have 38 wineries or 2 times more than three years ago,” he said.
During a meeting with WTO Secretary General Zurab Pololikashvili, Violeta Agrici discussed the opportunity to participate in the FITUR 2019 fair, one of the most prestigious fairs in tourism, taking place annually in January in Madrid. The officials also approached the implementation of WTO projects that will promote tourism in Moldova, and the possibility to benefit from an exchange of experience.
WTO was founded in 1975 and currently has 158 member states. Moldova is a full member of the organisation since 2002.
