Chisinau, 21 October /MOLDPRES/ - Tens of thousands of representatives and supporters of the Democratic Party of Moldova (PDM) from all Moldovan districts today gathered at the formation’s National Assembly in the centre of Chisinau. The participants in the event adopted the principles due to stay at the basis of the party’s political programme in the next years.
The participants in the assembly, held on the Great National Assembly Square, shouted pro-Moldova slogans and bore such placards as Fulfilled Promises for Moldova, Good Deeds for Moldova, Actions, Not words, Good Roads for Moldova. The event, which lasted almost two hours, was moderated by Education, Culture and Research Minister Monica Babuc and PDM deputy leader Vlad Cebotari.
The first to give a speech in front of citizens was the PDM honorary leader Dumitru Diacov. ‘’In 23 years of PDM’s work, we have organized such an assembly for the first time; this is an event of consolidation and getting closer to the citizens and a good moment to consider the achievements and collect the requests for the future. PDM was founded to edify, to work and now we want, more than ever, a young and modern Moldova and we are obliged to achieve this desideratum,’’ Diacov said.
Afterwards, Prime Minister Pavel Filip and Parliament Speaker Andrian Candu gave discourses in front of the audience.
“PDM has proved that Moldova can raise, can overcome the difficulties and can open its own way towards well-being. This has become possible thanks to the PDM governance for people. There are proofs and they are worth being said, worth being known. At present, the country’s economy is in the economic growth for the third year in the row; the average salary is by 30 per cent higher than three years ago. We can firmly say that Moldova is not the poorest country from Europe; at the same time, we have to work a lot, in order to enhance the well-being of Moldova’s people,’’ Filip said.
Parliament Speaker Andrian Candu said: ‘’We know that the European integration is made here, at home, by improving the living standards of Moldova’s people and making our institutions more efficient. We have worked a lot and we will continue working day by day for this,’’ Candu added.
The last speech was made by PDM leader Vlad Plahotniuc, who unveiled the formation’s priorities for the next years and showed confidence in the success of the party at the next parliamentary elections. ‘’Moldova has waited much time for somebody else to edify its future, from outside the country, from abroad. Yet, we believe that now the Moldovans are ready and are willing to edify their future with their own hands, a future just as they want to be; yet, for this, they need politicians working for the country, who are to provide them stability, safety and confidence in the future. Therefore, we have assembled here to go together on a new way, on which nobody has had the courage to go so far, on the pro-Moldova way. The ‘’pro Moldova’’ policy means to be a consolidated people, means that the Moldovan villages will be as full of work as in the times past: villages with good infrastructure, with asphalted roads and supplied with water, villages with many children, for whom the schools and kindergartens are renovated, for whom we have family physicians in each settlement, villages with jobs in workshops or in the field, so that people do not have to leave abroad. The ‘’pro Moldova’’ policy means that we will continue taking over what is the best from the models of living in Europe, so as to bring the well-being here, at home, in Moldova, for the future of our children and our self-assertion as modern society.
The ‘’pro Moldova’’ policy means to re-establish our national dignity and to have an active role in the external relations. Moldova has right to its own vision, to its own word in the ties with those from abroad. I think that this concept, pro-Moldova, will represent the state doctrine from now on, will be the national doctrine, which we have been in need of since the Independence so far,’’ the PDM leader said.
In the end of the event, in which, according to the organizers, almost 100,000 citizens took part, the participants adopted a joint commitment to support the pro-Moldova desideratum.
