Chisinau, 22 October /MOLDPRES/- Romania's model for the integration of emergency services will be implemented in Moldova. The issue was discussed at a meeting between Minister of Health, Labor and Social Protection Silvia Radu and Secretary of State, Head of Department of Emergency Situations of the Romanian Ministry of Internal Affairs Raed Arafat.
The two officials decided to initiate the cooperation on improving the emergency service in Moldova.
"Romania has advanced a lot in emergency management. We want the same in our country. We need to identify the most effective measures to optimize medical emergency interventions,” Radu said.
Raed Arafat said that emergency medical care should be regarded as a whole, where firefighters and ambulance teams must work together. "Romania has done this, and due to setting of the extrication teams and establishment of the Emergency Unit, it has managed to reduce the mortality rate in emergency cases by 50%,” Arafat said.
According to the Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection, an emergency department will be built soon at the Institute of Emergency Medicine, which will be equipped with high-performance equipment. The project will be implemented with the support of the European Commission.
Moldova benefits from Romania's support in the cross-border project through interventions with the SMURD helicopter. Since 2015, 106 interventions have been carried out so far.
