National Green Day to be held on 27 October

Chisinau, 22 October /MOLDPRES/- About three million trees and shrubs are to be planted in Moldova within the national campaign of planting trees in Moldova, A Tree for Our Future, which will be launched on 27 October and will be held by the end of November. Valentina Ţapiş, State Secretary at the Ministry of Agriculture, Regional Development and Environment, made the statement today.
"In order to ensure an efficient conduct of the event, the government approved an action plan for green space creation. This autumn is expected to create forestry crops in the national forest fund on an area of about 531 hectares. At the same time, works to aid natural regeneration in the forest fund are to be carried out on an area of 800 hectares. It is also planned to carry out the completion of forest cultures, created in previous years, on an area of 2560 ha, using about seven million seedlings," Tapis said.
At the request of public authorities, economic agents and those wishing to attend the event, Moldsilva Agency will provide the necessary seedlings for National Day, A Tree for Our Future, when one of the most important ecological campaigns in our country will start.
According to the director of the Agency, Ion Haralampov, the 34 nurseries of the forest enterprises in the country have prepared for the current planting campaign about 16 million seedlings. "More than 140,000 seedlings have been requested by the local public administration bodies, which will be financed from the State Environmental Fund, and we have quality seedlings for all interested and for each type of land," Haralampov said.
The organization of the campaign in the country will be carried out by local public administrations of level I and II, and on 27 October all public institutions will involve. On Saturday, the government is expected at the Forestry Enterprise in Straseni, Parliament's Apparatus will plant trees at the Chisinau Forestry Enterprise, and the Presidency - at the Forestry Enterprise in Razeni (Ialoveni).
The National Green Day was set up by presidential decree in 1995 and takes place on the last Saturday of October.
