Over 2,300 people sick with viroses appeal to doctors in Moldova

Chisinau, 22 October /MOLDPRES/ - Over 2,300 persons from Chisinau last week reached public medical institutions with acute respiratory infections. The acting head of the social assistance and health general department at the Chisinau city hall, Carolina Olaru, made statements to this effect at a today’s weekly meeting of the city hall’s services.
According to Olaru, the number of cases of viroses increased against the previous week, when about 2,000 cases were registered.
„The number of disease cases is specific for this period. Last week, flu cases were not recorded. At the same time, 7,200 doses of anti-flu vaccine were distributed to medical institutions from the Moldovan capital. Pregnant women, children with acute chronic diseases, old people from asylums, the staff from orphanages, sanatoriums for children and asylums will be immunized as a priority,” Olaru noted.
At the same time, last week, over 300 people appealed to physicians with infectious diseases and intoxications. As many as 179 patients out of all persons who appealed to doctors accused diarrhea, of whom 130 were children. A number of 108 sick people were hospitalized in all.
