International festival, contest of choral music, held in Moldova, nominates laureates

Chisinau, 22 October /MOLDPRES/ - The 11th issue of the international festival and contest of choral music, „A ruginit frunza din vii” (The Vine Leaves Have Turned Yellow), held in Moldova on 19-21 October, ended with the gala of laureates at the Chisinau-based Organ Hall on 21 October evening.     

Participating in the event were over 20 choral bands with a number of more than 600 singers from 11 countries: Bulgaria, Hungary, Latvia, Italy, Macedonia, Poland, Moldova, Romania, Russia, Spain and Ukraine.   

Contacted by MOLDPRES, the head of the Musical and Choral Association of Moldova, one of the festival’s organizers Elena Marian said that the festival was aimed at promoting the choral musical art nationally and internationally. According to Marian, four categories of bands performed at the competition: choirs of children, youth choirs, mixed choirs, chamber choirs and vocal bands.    

At the category of children’s choirs, golden diplomas were awarded to the choirs Cor cu Dor from Bucharest (conductor – Teodora Jaworski), Trison (conductor – Sofia Volcov), Lia-Ciocarlia (conductor – Svetlana Istratii), Sonor (conductor – Oxana Burlacu) from Chisinau, Belcanto from Soroca (conductor – Ludmila Samarin), Angeli Junior from Iasi, Romania (conductor – Mirela Palamariu) and Fusion Sound from Odessa, Ukraine (conductor – Elizaveta Vedmedovskaia).

The choir Ars Nova from Balti (conductor – Ana Cuscenco) got the golden diploma at the category of youth choirs and the choir Moldova – Ariozo from Soroca (conductor – Raisa Berbeci) – the silver diploma. The grand prize at this category went to the choir Interschool choir Capricolium from Glucholazy, Poland.   

At the category of mixed choirs, the silver diploma was awarded to the choirs Doina Nistrului from Rezina (conductor – Ion Scutelnic) and Favorosi Enekkar from Budapest, Hungary, (conductor - Krasznai Gaspar). As for the sub-category of chamber choirs, the golden diploma went to the choir Mirce Avev from Skopje, Macedonia, (conductor - Jasmina Gjogjeska); the silver one was awarded to the choir Budaorsi Sapzon Ferenc Korus from Budapest (conductor - Krasznai Gaspar). As for the sub-category of vocal bands, golden diplomas were awarded to the bands Semi Not Radughi from Podolsk-Klomovsk, Russia (conductor Elena Nozdrevatih), Sonoris from Targoviste, Romania (conductor – Maria Iancu), Sf. Antim Ivireanul from Ramnicu Valcea (conductor – Marian Stroe) and Mira from Iasi, Romania, (conductor – Petronela Dartu).     

The event was organized by the Musical and Choral Association, in partnership with the Education, Culture and Research Ministry, East-European Foundation, through funds provided by the government of Sweden and Swedish Foreign Affairs Ministry, National Ethnography and Natural History Museum, Metropolitan See of Moldova, Chisinau city hall and other institutions.   

The first issue of the international festival and contest of choral music, „A ruginit frunza din vii” (The Vine Leaves Have Turned Yellow), took place in 2007.
