US dollar passed 17 MDL

Chisinau, 23 October /MOLDPRES/- The US dollar has passed the threshold of 17 MDL. For today, the National Bank of Moldova set an official exchange rate of 17 lei and 02 bani for one dollar, up by 4 bani than yesterday.

Economic expert Roman Chirca said that the main reason of the dollar's appreciation is its appreciation against the single European currency on international markets, due to the fact that the US economy has higher growth than the European one.

According to Chirca, under these conditions, the BNM has two options: to appreciate the dollar or depreciate the euro. The expert also said that the US dollar will continue to strengthen, and the euro is still in the risk of depreciation.

Today the euro will have a value of 19 lei and 58 bani, up by 12 bani than yesterday. At the same time, the Romanian leu will increase to 4 lei and 19 bani. Russian ruble will be 26 bani today. Ukrainian hryvnia will remain at 60 bani.
