Teachers, physicians, social assistants and employees from mayoralties will have higher salaries. The leader of Moldova’s Democratic Party (PDM), Vlad Plahotniuc, made statements to this effect at the end of a today’s weekly meeting of PDM.

According to Plahotniuc, the wage reform, titled Good Salaries for Moldova, will be carried out in two stages and sees salary increases of at least 20 per cent for the budgetary employees.

„The economy is on the rise, which allows us presently to come up with an extraordinary initiative, which this time will make the citizens feel this economic growth in the most direct way in their pockets. Thanks to this wage reform, more than 150,000 budgetary employees will have essential salary increases. Among the professional sectors regarded by the wage reform, there are education, health, social assistance, local public authorities. The salaries will increase by 20 per cent, by 50 per cent and for some people even by 90 per cent, for these categories of budgetary employees, which is an unprecedented increase of salaries in Moldova,” Plahotniuc noted.

According to the PDM leader, the cabinet will provide more details about the reform on the days to come. “I want to say that we already plan the second stage of the wage reform, so that, in the spring of 2019, those who did not benefit from salary increases, have higher salaries,” Plahotniuc added.

Statistics data shows that there are 36,000 employees receiving less than 2,000 lei in Moldova.
