Chisinau, 5 November /MOLDPRES/ - The Science Days were inaugurated at the National Library of Moldova (BNRM) for the first time ever today. The Days will be held till 10 November.

Contacted by MOLDPRES, BNRM director Elena Pintilei has said that the idea to organize this event belonged to the Scientific Council of the National Library, led by PhD in philology Nelly Turcan.”The first issue of the Science Days has three content dimensions: turning to good account the science in the contemporary times; National Library – research institution and Science understood by everybody. We believe that the National Library is the institution which, by its daily work, fulfills this mission. We want the entire community to know more about the National Library as research institution,” Elena Pintilei said.

For his part, the head of the BNRM Scientific Council, Nelly Turcan, said that the library was an important actor in the research process and of turning to account the scientific findings and, in this way, both the library and the librarian’s work are turned to good account. “On these days, we will organize a string of activities for the promotion of science and the findings of the research activity. All the community should know what researchers are dealing with, as the science is financed from the state budget. At the same time, these events contribute to the carrying out of a dialogue between the science and society,” Nelly Turcanu noted.

In the context, the deputy director of the B.P. Hasdeu Romanian Philology Institute at the Education, Culture and Research Ministry, Nina Corcinschi, stressed that the Science Days represented a connection of the academic community and the events within BNRM, the beneficial result of which will be the visibility of the scientific achievements and promotion of science in the society.

Eight exhibitions were inaugurated at the National Library on the occasion of this event today.
