Military sappers destroyed 100 kg aviation bomb in Magdacesti village

Chisinau, 6 November /MOLDPRES/- National Army sappers defused and neutralized over 20 explosives of different caliber in October.
Adrian Efros, head of Engineering Service, said that most munitions, including 82 mm throwers, and hand grenades, were found in localities from Causeni, Anenii Noi and Calarasi districts.
He added that the most dangerous catch - a 100 kg aviation bomb - was discovered by a group of workers during the execution of works on a gas pipeline in Magdadesti village, Criuleni district. "Following the investigation of the explosive object, the team of sappers of the Engineers Battalion Codru found that the bomb was of German origin, during the World War II. Ammunition was transported to Bulboaca Military Training Base to be destroyed,” he said.
In October, the sappers liquidated a 320 mm reactor projectile found in the gravel quarry in the vicinity of Puhaceni village, Anenii Noi district, and three TM-57 anti-tank mines found in the forest near Ghetlova village, Orhei. The ammunition has been evacuated and destroyed under maximum security.
According to the Ministry of Defense, since the beginning of this year, 166 demining missions have been carried out and 302 explosive devices have been neutralized throughout the country.
