Chisinau, 6 November /MOLDPRES/ - Employees of the Interior Ministry’s (MAI) General Inspectorate for Emergency Situation (IGSU) and physicians warn the residents about the danger of intoxication with pesticides, after last week three children were intoxicated with insecticide used by their grandfather for treating wheat.
The head of the IGSU press service, Liliana Puscasu, has said that the warning came after three minors from the Flocoasa village, southern Cantemir district, had died and two women had been hospitalized intoxicated with pesticides.
According to specialists, the symptoms of intoxication can appear several hours after the toxic substance gets into the organism. People may have headache, tiredness, dizziness, in more serious cases – convulsions, disturbances of sights and balance, loss of consciousness. If persons are in closed rooms where the toxic substance was sprayed, they might die because of the big concentration of the substance and its inhalation.
In the context, IGSU employees warn the residents not to use pesticides in household conditions and to ask for the urgent intervention of the ambulance in case of intoxication.
Three minors aged four, eight and 11 years died in early last week, after they had been intoxicated with a preparation containing aluminium phosphide.
