Literary critic, historian Eliza Botezatu celebrates 80th anniversary

Chisinau, 7 November /MOLDPRES/- Eliza Botezatu, literary critic and historian, professor, holder of the Labor Glory Order, is today 80 years.
She was born in 1938 in Briceni village, Donduseni district. In 1956-1961 she studied at the Faculty of Philology of the State University of Moldova, and in 1968-1971 -PhD at the Institute of Language and Literature of the Academy of Sciences of Moldova.
She worked at the Pedagogical Institute in Balti (now State University "Alecu Russo") as assistant lecturer (1961-1966). In 1966 she became a senior lecturer, then a Ph.D. in philological sciences in 1972. In 1974-1979 she was the head of the department at the same institute. Since 1979, she is a senior scientific associate at the Institute of Language and Literature of the Academy of Sciences of Moldova, and in 1986-1987 - Secretary of the Management Board of the Writers' Union of Moldova. She was also head of the department and professor at the Ion Creanga Pedagogical University in Chisinau.
She has published over 400 articles in newspapers, magazines, periodicals on contemporary literary process.
Eliza Botezatu was awarded the Labor Glory Order and badge – Eminent of Public Education in Moldova. In 2004, she became Doctor Honoris Causa of Alecu Russo State University in Balti.
