PM describes Moldova-Council of Europe partnership as pragmatic, based on concrete things

Chisinau, 7 November /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Pavel Filip today had a meeting with new Head of the Council of Europe Office in Moldova William Massolin. The PM congratulated the official on the occasion of taking over of his mandate. Filip noted that the official’s experience would help further develop the partnership between Moldova and Council of Europe (CoE), the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
„You have every openness of the government. Problems can be solved only within an open and constructive dialogue. Any problem will be analyzed, discussed, in order to identify the best solution,” Pavel Filip stressed.
The prime minister appreciated, in particular, the expertise provided by the Council of Europe, which is valuable and indispensable for efforts of implementing the domestic reforms. Pavel Filip highlighted also the important role of the CoE 2017-2010 Action Plan for Moldova, as well as of cooperation programmes, meant for improving the governance process at all levels. “The partnership between Moldova and Council of Europe is pragmatic and is based on concrete things,” Pavel Filip said.
For his part, William Massolin reconfirmed CoE’s determination to continue the cooperation with Moldova in such sectors as justice reform, fighting corruption and money laundering, dialogue with the local public authorities and strengthening the trust between the two banks of Dniester.
The officials also exchanged opinions on the protection of national minorities and the forthcoming parliamentary elections in Moldova. The prime minister welcomed the delegation of a mission of observers on behalf of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, noting that the governance would make every effort for the polls to be free, fair and transparent.
