Chisinau, 8 November /MOLDPRES/- Prime Minister Pavel Filip met members of the Central Electoral Commission to discuss the actions due to be taken by the government to ensure a free, fair and transparent electoral process. "We see there are some concerns about the upcoming elections and wanted to make sure the government has done everything necessary as for the parliamentary elections to be free, fair and transparent,” he said, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
The premier proposed to consider the possibility of installing cameras in the polling stations to ensure maximum transparency. In this respect, it was emphasized the importance of transparency and the secrecy of voting and personal data.
The premier confirmed the willingness of the government and the State Chancellery to contribute to ensuring the necessary spaces for the arrangement of the polling stations. At the same time, he pointed out the need to equip polling stations with access ramps for disabled people, responsibility of the local public authorities.
Also, the government will ask ANRE to check electricity supply networks, and ANRCETI to ensure that there is Internet connection across the country in the parameters declared by service providers. The Special Telecommunications Center, which has recently been reorganized and has become the only public institution responsible for cyber security, will take all measures to ensure that the Elections information system has secure and fully functional communication channels. "One of the major concerns is cybernetic security of information systems, especially systems used in elections," he said.
In 2019, two election campaigns will take place: on 24 February – parliamentary elections and after 14 June – general local elections.
