Chisinau, 8 November /MOLDPRES/ - People’s Artist Anna Strezeva gives an organ recital, on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of her activity, at the Organ Hall today at 18:00.
Works by composers Johan Sebastian Bach, Franz Liszt, B. Hesford, M. Dupre will be sung at the concert.
Contacted by MOLDPRES, the Organ Hall’s director, Larisa Zubcu, said that Anna Strezeva was the only organ player of Moldova. “In last September, our institution marked its 40th anniversary and also since then, Anna Strezeva has worked at the Organ Hall. Strezeva had more invitations to work abroad; yet, she preferred to give herself to music here, at home,” Larisa Zubcu also said.
Born in Chisinau in a family of musicians, Anna Strezeva finished the Eugen Coca Music Lyceum in 1972 in two specialties: piano and music theory. In 1978, Strezeva graduated from the Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky Moscow Conservatoire, Theory Faculty, and in 1980 – the organ, which she studied with professor Leonid Roizman.
Starting from 1978, Strezeva has been working at the Organ Hall. So far, she has given more than 1,000 recitals. Anna Strezeva gave concerts in all republics of the former USSR, in Europe (Romania, Hungary, Finland, Germany, France) and in the United States. Also beginning with 1978, Strezeva has been teacher of music theory at the Eugen Coca Republican Music Lyceum and then at the Sergei Rachmaninoff Lyceum; at present, she is head of section at this institution. In 1994, Anna Strezeva founded the Barocco Band, bringing together the most gifted pupils of the lyceum in a single band, which includes aerophones, string instruments and piano.
The processing and transcriptions of the musical texts for various compositions of the band belong also to Anna Strezeva.
The repertoire of the organ player includes, besides original organ music, other masterpieces of the instrumental and vocal music, transcribed by the singer for organ. Often, Anna Strezeva’s recitals end with improvisations on subjects proposed by the audience.
During her artistic work, the organ player accompanied all stars of the Moldova’s interpretative art, who have organ works in their repertoire. She gave concerts with more artistic and choral collectives, orchestras, instrumental ensembles. People’s Artist of Moldova Anna Strezeva (2013) made comprehensive concert programmes, presented also abroad, with soprano Maria Biesu, panpipe players Vasile Iovu and Gheorghe Zamfir. The latter’s performance on the stage of the Chisinau-based Organ hall was a memorable event in the history of the Moldovan capital’s musical life.
