Firemen set smoke detectors in seven settlements of Moldova

Chisinau, 8 November /MOLDPRES/ - Employees of the Interior Ministry’s (MAI) General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (IGSU) have set smoke detectors in seven settlements of Moldova from the districts of Donduseni, Drochia, Criuleni and Dubasari.
Contacted by MOLDPRES, the IGSU press officer, Liliana Puscasu, has said that, within the campaign, firemen trained over 200 people in terms of observance of the anti-fire norms when using heating sources.
„Firemen’s actions took place in the context of continuing the national campaign, A House Protected, a Life Saved. More families benefited from smoke detectors set by rescuers in dwellings. The latter spoke to people about the danger of fires, as well as about the correct reaction if the sound signal of detectors starts. At the same time, firemen urged people not to infringe the anti-fire rules and extinguish the fire from fireplaces during the night,” Puscasu noted.
About 2,800 people benefited from installations for the prevention of cases of intoxications and more than 3,000 smoke detectors were set in households from Moldova within the campaign, A House Protected, a Life Saved.
According to IGSU data, in 2018, about 1,400 fires took place in Moldova, in the wake of which 76 people died. At the same time, 44 cases of intoxication with carbon monoxide occurred on this period, during which 18 persons died. .
