Chisinau-based Chiril Draganiuc Phthisiopneumology Institute to receive new radiological unit

Chisinau, 8 November /MOLDPRES/ - The Chiril Draganiuc Phthisiopneumology Institute from Moldova’s capital will receive a new radiological unit, in order to carry out investigations of identifying tuberculosis or lung cancer in rural settlements. The parliament today voted a draft law on the exemption from the value added tax (VAT), customs duty and the tax for carrying out customs procedures on the import of a MAZ lorry donated to the institution, as a result of bilateral agreements reached between Moldova and Belarus.
According to the authorities, the radiological vehicle is needed for activities of medical diagnosis carried out by mobile multi-disciplinary teams in the rural environment.
The lung screening is part of the National Programme on Tuberculosis Control and Prophylaxis for 2016-2020. The Medical and Sanitary Public Institution Chiril Draganiuc Phthisiopneumology Institute is the medical unit in charge of fighting tuberculosis and other phthisiopneumological diseases, as well as of coordinating the implementation of the aforementioned National Programme.
