Chisinau, 08 November /MOLDPRES/ – Three hundred thirty five families of contracted military servicemen will receive keys from service apartments by the end of 2018. Prime Minister, Pavel Filip, has visited today the block of flats in construction in its final stage and he was interested in the quality of the work done, the government's communication and protocol department has reported.
The dwellings will be offered to the militaries in turn-by-turn. They are equipped with sanitary equipment, autonomous heating system, stove, and the interior walls are already finished. "It is important for the military man to know that he is socially secure, including when he is in missions, his family is safe and in good conditions at home," said PM.
The building was made as part of a public-private partnership with the Ministry of Defence (MA). The construction company promises that the works will be completed by the end of 2018. "It is very important for these families to celebrate Christmas in their new flats, here at home," said Pavel Filip, adding that the government will continue the measures to provide housing for the military by contract.
Currently, the MA has a fund of 144 service flats, and the next two years there are planned to build another 600 flats for military in Balti and Chisinau municipalities.
Also today, the PM visited a military base of the National Army, where in 2018, there have been carried out renovations in 2 bathrooms and the food building with a capacity of 1,000 people. At present, the sports complex is also in the repair.
In order to modernise the military infrastructure and motivate young people to work in this area, the government has approved a series of policy documents, including the National Defence Strategy (SNA), Military Strategy (SM) and Professional Army Programme (PAP) 2018 – 2021.
"The reform of the National Army's professionalism was long-needed, we must have a well-prepared army. Maybe we can not afford to maintain a very large army, but a well-prepared army – it is our duty to have it," said Pavel Filip.
