Chisinau, 8 November /MOLDPRES/ - Persons with locomotor disabilities will be able to easier import transport means and will be exempted from the tax for roads’ use. At an initiative by Prime Minister Pavel Filip, the cabinet today approved a string of legislative amendments which contribute to the social inclusion of the people with special needs, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
At present, only people with severe locomotor disabilities benefit from facilities at the import of transport means and only if the vehicle is provided by donation and is re-equipped properly. The document approved today will give right of import to all persons with disabilities of the locomotor apparatus, no matter the disability degree. Also, according to the new provisions, the people will be able to import the vehicle once in five years and not once in seven years, as it has been set so far.
At the same time, after the five-year term expires, the persons with disabilities will be able to sell imported vehicles with facilities, for reasons that, after a period of exploitation, some beneficiaries would like to buy a new car or they will not need the transport means.
The document also sees exemption of all persons with locomotor disabilities from the tax on roads’ use, and not of only of those having manual-action vehicles, as it is at present.
About 15,000 people with locomotor disabilities live in Moldova.
