Authors of business productivity growth projects with IT solutions to get grants

Chisinau, 9 November /MOLDPRES/- Authors of projects on increasing productivity of companies using IT solutions will get grants from the Organization for Small and Medium Enterprises (ODIMM). The initiative is set in the Strategy for the development of information technology and digital innovation ecosystem for 2018-2023, which was published in the Official Journal of Moldova today.

The same issue also includes the action plan on strategy implementation. The document aims at creating a competitive IT business environment, human capital development in ICT, increased innovation and investment in the sector, and increased exports of IT products and services.

To this end, networks of entrepreneurial hubs will be created based on ICT Centers of excellence and business incubators. The strategy also includes the development of a network of Moldovan digital ambassadors to promote the local IT industry internationally.

Implementation of the strategy will cost 240 million lei. Money will be largely allocated by the business community and development partners.

The information and communications technology sector in Moldova had in the last five years positive contributions to GDP growth, providing 7.7 percent of the economic advance of 4.1 percent in 2016, due to an increase in the physical volume index of services rendered by 4.6 per cent compared to the previous year.

International ratings rank Moldova as a state with a developed electronic communications infrastructure favorable to business development in the information and communication technology, the authors of the Strategy said.

According to official data, in 2011-2017 the turnover of the IT sector doubled and the number of registered enterprises increased by 61%. The level of efficiency of enterprises with foreign capital is superior to local ones, which shows increased use of innovative technologies.
