Chisinau, 9 November /MOLDPRES/ - The Joint Control Commission (JCC) held a meeting in full format, chaired by Russia’s delegation, in Bender on 8 November, after a break of more than one year and a half, the Reintegration Polices Bureau has said.

The Moldovan delegation demanded inclusion on the agenda of the issue on working out a mechanism of monitoring the situation in the Security Zone, in line with the agreements from 13 January 2017. Yet, the Transnistrian side showed incapacity to hold a constructive dialogue on this subject.

The discussions at the meeting were focused on:

- appointment of lieutenant colonel Andrey Nazarin as military observer on behalf of Russia;

- consideration and approval of a weekly report of the Joint Military Command on the situation in Security Zone;

- measures taken by the “militia” and police, as well as the Joint Military Command, in the context of the information dealing with the raising of arms and ammunitions from the Security Zone, on the period of the 2017-2018 years;

- revival of the activity of the working groups in charge of the consideration of the situation of the posts placed in the Security Zone and of the law and order;

- considering possibility for the Moldovan side take over the peacekeepers post No 9 on the left bank of Dniester (Vadul lui Voda bridge) and change of some powers in the activity of military commanders.

The participants in the meeting paid special attention to the issue of illegal placement of the so-called “border guards” posts instead of peacekeepers’ ones nearby the settlements Zahorna, Cremenciug, Varnita, Cosnita, Lunga and Dorotcaia in the Security Zone, liquidated as a result of the Odessa Agreement from 30 March 1998.

Given that the Transnistrian delegation and the one of Russia had evasive stances, the participants in the meeting agreed that the discussions on these subjects would continue at the next JCC meeting.

Also, Moldova’s delegation to the Joint Control Commission issued a declaration on the need to enhance the efficiency of the control over the situation in the Security Zone and to assess the process of presentation, record and considering the information gained by military observers in the Joint Military Command.

The next JCC meeting is scheduled for 15 November 2018.
