Famous Moldovan conductor, violonist becomes Doctor Honoris Causa of Moldova's Academy of Sciences

Chisinau, 09 November /MOLDPRES/ – The Academy of Sciences of Moldova (ASM) has awarded today Academic title Doctor Honoris Causa to conductor and violinist, Nicolae Botgros, the artistic director and lead conductor of the National Music Orchestra Lautarii.
The head of ASM, academician Gheorghe Duca, mentioned that on 29 October, the Presidium of ASM, at the recommendation of the Socioeconomic, Humanities and Arts Sciences Division, decided to materialise the proof of recognition by the scientific community of the merits of the first conductor of the National Orchestra of Folk Music Lautarii, master Nicolae Botgros, which has had a substantial contribution to development of musical art.
"Master Nicolae Botgros has created hundreds of music parts for the folk music orchestra, recorded about 400 CDs with the most valuable performers in the whole Romanian space, staged and immortalised dozens of gems of spirituality in the funds of IPNA Teleradio – Moldova local musicals, greatly animated cultural life, supported the great artistic events in most important national and international festivals and contests," specified Gheorghe Mustea.
At his part, composer Constantin Rusnac has pointed out that Nicolae Botgros is a personality with whom Moldova boasts and will take pride many years ahead. "He is an artist who feels not only the folk music, but all music as such, classical, pop music, etc.", said Constantin Rusnac.
Again, in front of the ones present, the National Folk Music Orchestra Lautarii, led by Nicolae Botgros, has held a concert.
Nicolae Botgros was born on 25 January 1953, in village Badicul Moldovenesc, Cahul district. He studied musical at the Culture School Elena Sarbu in Soroca and Conservatory G. Musicescu in Chisinau. He was the artistic director of the Edinet House of Culture, a violinist in Orchestra Mugurel, in Orchestra of the Dance Ensemble Joc. From 1978 until now he has been the artistic director of the National Music Orchestra Lautarii. Nicolae Botgros is among the few artists rewarded for their work while they are alive. His name is the Cahul Palace of Culture, Soroca College of Arts, secondary schools in Chioselia, Cantemir and village Badicul Moldovenesc, Cahul district.
