Two solar palm trees to be installed in Chisinau

Chisinau, 12 November /MOLDPRES/- Two solar palm trees will be installed in the capital in the next two months. Acting mayor of Chisinau Ruslan Codreanu made the statement today at a weekly meeting of the city hall.

Palm trees will generate green electricity. "The project aims to use and promote renewable energy in Chisinau. On the stem of this tree the Chisinau residents will be able to charge their phones and can use the internet for free. Palm trees will illuminate the area due to the energy accumulated during the day from the sun," he said.

At the same time, the municipal authorities urge citizens to contribute to identifying places for installation of the two palm trees. Several eligibility criteria have been set in this regard.

The project is implemented by the Chisinau city hall, in collaboration with the United Nations Development Program and the Energy Efficiency Fund.
