Goods train takes fire in western Moldova district

Chisinau, 12 November /MOLDPRES/ - A goods train today took fire nearby the Stolniceni settlement, western Ungheni district.

Contacted by MOLDPRES, the press officer of the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (IGSU), Liliana Puscasu, has said that the call to the 112 Service was received at 10:45.

„According to preliminary information, the fire partially destroyed two locomotives and those 75 carriages were not hit by the fire. The train’s carriages were not loaded with goods. To extinguish the flames, four teams of rescuers and firemen intervened on the spot,” Puscasu said.

The firemen managed to bring the fire under control at 12:42. Nobody was hit in the wake of the fire.

IGSU specialists are to establish the circumstances and the cause of the fire.
