Chisinau, 12 November /MOLDPRES/ - The Ungheni-Chisinau passenger train will permanently move with a number of six carriages. They will be able to carry 568 persons on chairs and another 300 standing. The Economics and Infrastructure Ministry today announced the changes, after, in late last October, more residents of the Sipoteni village, central Calarasi district, had blocked the movement of the Ungheni-Chisinau train, discontented by the low number of carriages on this route.
Those two trains with three carriages each are to be heated during the cold period of the year.
According to analyses of Moldova’s Railway enterprise, on Fridays evening and on Mondays morning, 550 people move by the Ungheni-Chisinau train at the most and about 450 passengers are carried by the trains moving starting from Mondays evening till Fridays morning.
At the same time, Moldova’s Railway made an analysis about the flow of passengers in the suburban passenger train Chisinau-Bender-Chisinau. In this respect, decision-makers will put emphasis on a passenger train with three carriages, with a capacity of 215 places, instead of two carriages, with a capacity of 132 places.
The Ungheni-Chisinau train moves daily. The train sets out from the Ungheni station at 03:51, reaches Sipoteni at 05:15 and arrives in Chisinau at 06:59. The cost of one travel for the entire route is 24 lei.
