Moldovan, Georgian officials discuss bilateral partnership in terms of unsettled conflicts in Chisinau

Chisinau, 12 November /MOLDPRES/ - Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Cristina Lesnic today had a meeting with State Minister for Reconciliation and Civic Equality of Georgia Ketevan Tsikhelashvili, on a working visit to Moldova, accompanied by Georgian Ambassador to Moldova Merab Antadze, the Reintegration Policies Bureau has reported.
The visit to Chisinau by the Georgian official is paid at an invitation by the Moldovan side and is aimed at creating a partnership of bilateral dialogue.
The subjects of the meeting were focused on aspects of common interest; the sides exchanged information on the process of managing activities in the field of competence, in particular, management of problems dealing with the unsettled territorial conflicts and solutions identified, in order ensure the fulfillment by the constitutional authorities of their obligations before the residents from the concerned regions.
Deputy Prime Minister Cristina Lesnic informed about the activities carried out in the platforms of negotiations for the Transnistrian settlement, progress recorded in the implementation of topical subjects on the agenda, role of international mediators and observers, as well as Moldova’s priorities and approaches on the Transnistrian dimension. At the same time, Lesnic informed about the programmes promoted by the Moldovan cabinet and foreign donors and which are meant to solve urgent problems of local interest in the country’s eastern districts and the Security Zone and to create premises for establishing single national areas. The deputy minister also emphasized the impact of these initiatives on the settlement process.
For his part, State Minister Ketevan Tsikhelashvili described the present situation in Georgia and the measures instructed by the Tbilisi authorities to promote projects on development and civil reconciliation and comprehensively settle the regional conflicts. At the same time, the Georgian official reiterated his country’s support for the final settlement of the Transnistrian file, with the observance of Moldova’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. He also launched an invitation to Deputy Prime Minister Cristina Lesnic to participate in a conference on humanitarian aspects and promotion of human rights in conflict-stricken regions, due in Tbilisi in next December.
The officials highlighted the opportunity to strengthen the cooperation relations and to constantly communicate on subjects of common interest. The sides agreed to ensure the functionality of a permanent platform of dialogue to this end.
In line with the agenda set, the delegation of Georgia will pay its visit to Chisinau on 12-14 November and is to take part also in other working meetings with Moldovan officials.
