350 million lei to be earmarked additionally from state budget 2018 for Good roads for Moldova programme

Chisinau, 14 November /MOLDPRES/- Following a request of local public authorities, this year, additional road repairs will be carried out within the program Good roads for Moldova worth 350 million lei. The money will be earmarked from the state budget for 2018. The decision was approved today at a meeting of the Road Fund Council, chaired by Prime Minister Pavel Filip, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
“During the territorial visits of the government, we are receiving more and more requests for road construction or rehabilitation. Infrastructure development is directly proportional to our financial possibilities. It is important to spend money efficiently and infrastructure investments are vital. We will continue the Good Roads program in 2019,” he said.
At present, 90 per cent of the works provided under the Good Roads for Moldova programme have already been implemented. The premier asked to be thoroughly checked quality of work. Checks are carried out regularly and the quality of the works is in line with the norms.
At the meeting, it was also decided to redistribute 40 million of road fund, unused so far, for road maintenance in winter. It was also approved the creation of a working group that will elaborate a feasibility study for construction of the bridge over the Dniestre River in Cosauti-Iampol region. It will be built jointly by Moldova and Ukraine from European funds.
During the meeting, it was also decided to earmark additional funds next year to increase security on railway crossings and identify solutions to exclude the difference between the number of registered cars and those undergoing technical inspection.
