Moldovan Theatre Union launches National Dramaturgy Contest 2018

Chisinau, 14 November /MOLDPRES/ – The Theatre Union of Moldova (UNITEM) has launched today the IXth issue of the National Drama Contest, which will take place until 01 February 2019.

Interviewed by agency, President of UNITEM, Alexandru Grecu, mentioned that the purpose of competition is to develop the theatrical process in Moldova, discover new dramatic pieces of the autochthonous authors, and promote contemporary dramaturgy.

According to him, the contest can be attended by well – known and debutant playwrights, with dramatic works that have not been published or mounted and have not taken part in previous issues of national dramaturgy competitions.

The works for contest are to be presented in three copies, with a motto on the title sheet, which should not contain the name of the playwright. They will be accompanied by a closed envelope, inside which will be given the name, address, home phone, copy of ID.

The jury will nominate the winning track until 01 February 2019. It will be edited in the UNITEM collection, with the financial support of the Union, be awarded at UNITEM Gala 2019 and proposed to be mounted on theatre stages in Moldova.

The jury includes: actor and director Gheorghe Mandru, master of art, director of Theatre B. P. Hasdeu from Cahul city, playwright Dumitru Crudu and Eufrosenia Capmari, Emeritus Artist, actress at Theatre V. Alecsandri in Balti municipality.

The first issue of the National Dramaturgy Contest took place in 2009. In 2017, the contest was won by playwright Irina Nechit with play: Sfaturile Melaniei.
