Global Recycling Day marked today for first time

Chisinau, 15 November /MOLDPRES/- The international community is celebrating today, for the first time, the Recycling Day. This is an ecological event, marked by various activities, information campaigns, aimed at motivating people to use recycled products and actively participate in recycling process.
Recycling Day provides for common involvement of people around the world to realize the need to preserve the six primary resources: water, air, coal, oil, natural gas and minerals. Also, on this day, the community warns of the seventh resource - the products we recycle every day.
In this context, the non-governmental organizations and institutions subordinated to the Ministry of Agriculture, Regional Development and Environment, civil society conduct today several actions, the main one being the ecological hour - Nothing to throw, everything must be recycled.
“Recycling is important both for preserving healthy environment and for resetting in economic circuit the materials that are becoming more and more difficult to find. Recycling involves the separation, collection and storage of materials in order to transform them into useful new products," sources in MADRM said.
Global Recycling Day is marked this year for the first time ever, following an initiative of the International Recycling Bureau, which proposed the event to become traditional on 15 November every year.
One million tonnes of waste are produced annually in Moldova. There are currently 36 authorized operators in the field of waste collection and recycling, of which 18 only deal with recycling.
