Chisinau, 15 November /MOLDPRES/- Over 60 tons of anti-skidding material was scattered yesterday on the national roads to combat glazed frost. The head of the State Road Administration's Operational Service, Sergiu Capatina, made the statement today.

In all, seven special vehicles and 15 workers were involved in the works. “These were the first interventions of the season. Road workers operated in Soroca and Rezina districts. At present, all road sectors are monitored and, if necessary, they will intervene,” he said.

The press officer of the National Patrol Inspectorate (INP), Natalia Golovco, said that yesterday over 50 patrol crews secured traffic, given the glazed frost on the route.

“Today, due to dense fog, the visibility in traffic is low. INP recommends drivers to adjust speed according to road conditions and visibility, maintain distance between vehicles, avoid risky maneuvers and use fog lights. Employees of the Patrol Inspectorate are increasingly operating on the country's routes to ensure traffic safety," Golovco said.

The head of the weather forecasts center of the State Hydrometeorological Service, Ghenadie Rosca, said that the fog will completely disperse during the day. “The fog remains in some regions. At the same time, it is not predicted for the next few days. When referring to glazed frost, then it is likely to be formed in the next days, as at night in some areas of the country, negative air temperatures are recorded,” Rosca said.

According to meteorologists, the weather remains stable in the coming days. SHS forecasts minimum temperatures of up to - 5 degrees Celsius at night in the north of the country, and up to +7 degrees Celsius during the day in the south.
