Chisinau, 16 November /MOLDPRES/- The Center Regional Development Agency (ADR Centru), Straseni District Council and economic agent nominated as winner for works signed yesterday the financing contract for a project of rehabilitation and modernization of a regional road.

The project - Rehabilitation and modernization of the regional road L442-Straseni-Voinova is financed from the sources of the National Regional Development Fund, with the support of the local public authority, and provides for the reconstruction and modernization of 21 km of road. Beneficiaries of the project will be residents of Străşeni, Ghelăuza, Recea, Zubreşti, Chirianca, Voinova and other neighboring villages.

The financing of the reconstruction of the road in Straseni was decided at this year's meeting of the National Council for Coordination of Regional Development (CNCDR), in which three regional development projects worth over 60 million lei were approved. The money will be earmarked from the FNDR means and from sources of private investors.

According to Minister of Economy and Infrastructure Chiril Gaburici, the projects will directly contribute to regional development - one of the priorities of the government. "Improving road infrastructure in Straseni district is a condition of foreign investors, who are to develop business in ZEL. The Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure backs the initiatives. We must be partners with investors coming to our country. By investing in infrastructure, we invest in the economic development of our country," he said.

The construction and rehabilitation of roads in Straseni district was requested by the Japanese investor Sumitomo, which is building a new automotive factory with about 4,000 jobs. The investments are 50 million euros, the company will start operating in 2019.
