Chisinau, 16 November /MOLDPRES/ - A project on re-arrangement of Chisinau’s historical centre, in the perimeter of the streets Sfatul Tarii, Maria Cebotari, Mihail Kogalniceanu and Alexei Sciusev, was launched by the Agency of Inspection and Restoration of Monuments today.
At a news conference, the director of the aforementioned Agency, Ion Stefanita, said that a compound of buildings of national importance with protected status is placed in this zone, such as the National Ethnography and Natural History Museum, buildings of the former pneumonia clinic, founded by nobleman Vasile Kalmutchi and the Zemstvei Museum.
According to Stefanita, another project deals with the revitalization of the Stefan cel Mare public garden. Here, play grounds for children will be set, two fountains will be constructed and the green area will be increased from 45 to 47 square metres, where adults and children will be able to rest on turf, just as it is in European countries. At the same time, the Classics Alley will be illuminated at night.
”We are also set to restore the house of fine artist Alexandru Plamadeala on the Bucuresti Street 52. We want to carry out these works in 2019. The project on re-arrangement of the historical centre will be proposed to the National Council of Historic Monuments for approval. We invite economic agents and the civil society to support us in implementing this project,” Ion Stefanita said, stressing that the project had been coordinated with the municipal departments.
At the same time, the Chisinau municipal council is to back the allocation of money from the budget for the next year. The cost of the works planned is about four million lei.
