Book of poems by great Romanian poet in Italian language launched in Moldovan capital

Chisinau, 16 November /MOLDPRES/ – At Municipal Library B. P. Hasdeu it has been launched today the bilingual book Arborele Poeziei/L'Albero della Poesia (in Romanian and Italian) with the lyrics of Mihai Eminescu.
The anthology includes verses by Mihai Eminescu, poems by Veronica Micle dedicated to the poet. These were translated into Italian by Varvara – Valentina Corcodel. The cover of the work was made by plastic artist from Bucharest, Nicolae Gutu.
The book contains 240 pages and it is accompanied by a review signed by eminescologist, academician Mihai Cimpoi. The volume was edited with the contribution of the Ministry of Education, Culture and Research (MECC).
Attending the event, Italian Ambassador to Moldova, Valeria Biagiotti, has remarked that this editorial appearance, along with the others made by Varvara – Valentina Corcodel and other translators, will contribute to a better mutual knowledge and a deeper approach of the cultures of Moldova and Italy.
In his speech, academician Mihai Cimpoi, the event moderator, has mentioned that the launch of this book is a special event because Varvara – Valentina Corcodel has been promoting Romanian culture in Italy for several years and Italian culture in Moldova.
"The picture of this Italian reception of Eminescu is very complex and rich. In Italy there have been translations of the works of Mihai Eminescu, as well as two monographs devoted to the creation of the poet. We have an imposing picture. So far, Eminescu has been translated into 87 languages in 250 countries," said academician Mihai Cimpoi.
In this context, academician Nicolae Dabija said that through this book, translator Varvara – Valentina Corcodel has continued to promote the image of our culture in Italy.
During the event, the pupils from High School Dante Alighieri presented a recital of verses of Mihai Eminescu in Italian.
