Chisinau, 17 November /MOLDPRES/ – After a long and beautiful autumn, in the middle of November the winter gave the first signs, but in the coming days the weather will get warm and the thermal values will indicate around 10ºC throughout Moldova.
According to the SHS’s information and media communication service, during the weekend and early next week, the weather will be determined by quiet forecasts, characteristic of the beginning of the winter – the frost night and the day between +02 – 07ºC. But on Tuesday it will warm up, and the thermometers will show values across the country ranging between +06 – +12ºC, during the day, and 0 – +08ºC above zero at night.
During the reference period precipitation is possible, which will fall differently. Thus, in the northern region, where it is traditionally cooler with a few degrees, it is expected to be snowy with snow, but also rain. In the centre and south of Moldova we will only have rain of varying intensity. The meteorologists forecast that towards the end of the following week weather will normalise, and sunny days will still be enjoyable this autumn.
According to SHS specialists, precipitation falls mostly in the form of rain in November. The snow on the territory of Moldova is reported for the first time on average in the first half of the month, but the snow quickly melts. The snow layer is formed more in the northern part of Moldova, basically at the end of November. Its decade average thickness does not exceed 3 cm, although the data show that in some years the maximum thickness of the snow cover on the meteorological platforms reached 78 cm (26 November 1975, Cahul).
In November, of the stifling meteorological phenomena, the greatest danger is represented by the abundant snow and the strong wind (on average once in 07 – 08 years), there are possible blizzard and deposits of poplars and chicory (on average once in 20 years). The number of days with precipitation in recent autumn in the country is 10 – 13 days, with fog 03 – 09 days, with ice – 1 – 2 days, with blizzard – less than a day.
The folk meteorology comes with traditional signs, indicating that when the cat licks its fur and looks for warmer places, it shows ugly weather. When the crows fly on all sides it will be bad weather, and if they stay quiet – the weather will be good. When the cock sings in one foot or plays a lot, all day, it tells the warmth of the weather, and if it sings in the evening, it is a sign that the weather is changing.
Also, gardeners should remember the first snowfall (14 November) that spring trees will be planted on the 14th day. The elders consider that if this rule is respected they will have a rich fruit.
