Moldova's south city implements cycling support project

Chisinau, 17 November /MOLDPRES/ – A cycling support project was launched recently in Cahul district. It provides encouragement for local people to opt for this environmentally friendly transport, organising more cycling races involving all age groups and arranging a bicycle parking lot.

The launch of the project was marked by a cycle race: Velo – Tur Pascani – Manta, attended by 60 amateur cyclists from the small to adult, alongside mayor of commune Manta, Violeta Hancu, and head of Cahul district, Ion Groza.  

The race has been aimed at promoting a healthy lifestyle throughout movement and more frequent use of alternative and environmentally friendly means of transport, such as cycling. According to the youth of Manta, such experiences must be continued because "bicycle is sport, health, environment".

Head of Cahul district, Ion Groza, appreciated the spirit of initiative of young people and representatives of the local public administration in Manta, with active involvement in the life of commune, carrying out beautiful projects with a great impact on all categories of citizens.

Project Bicycle Parking was implemented by the local group Lunca Prutului de Jos, co – funded by Solidarity Fund PL and mayor's office of Manta.
