Chisinau, 18 November /MOLDPRES/ – The Party of Socialists of Moldova (PSRM) has organised today a pre – election and anti – government meeting in the Great National Assembly Square (PMAN).

The action began with a march which started in two columns: from Circus and the Academy of Sciences of Moldova (ASM). They gathered in PMAN. During the march, the participants chanted: We are the majority!, It is our time! and Moldova has a future!.

The event was attended by the head of the state, Igor Dodon, head of PSRM, Zinaida Greceanii, governor of UTA Gagauzia, Irina Vlah, MPs of PSRM, leaders and supporters of the party.

A resolution on the electoral programme and objectives of the party for the parliamentary elections was approved at the meeting. For the next four years, the Socialists' party have proposed: raising wages, lowering the retirement age and indexing pensions twice a year, balanced foreign policy, maintaining the  neutrality of Moldova, resolving the Transnistrian conflict, banning unionist parties, teaching the history of Moldova in schools, promoting the church and supporting a presidential republic.

"We want a strong country where people will have jobs and be with families. The PSRM has the capabilities to change things. Thank you for your  not indifference for the country," said Greceanii.

"What has happened in the last 10 years is unacceptable. We know how to solve the issues and have demonstrated this many times. In recent years, PSRM has achieved very important achievements. The next goal is to obtain a parliamentary majority. The President of the country needs the support of Parliament and Government and I think this will happen after the vote. At the next parliamentary elections, the socialists are forced to win. That is our chance," said the head of state, Igor Dodon.

At her turn, UTA Gagauzia Governor, Irina Vlah, said she wants a unitary country. "We do not want to be divided into nationalities. We want an independent country where every citizen will be safe on tomorrow. The people have to live in a developing state. I firmly believe in this and I am sure Moldova has a future," said Irina Vlah.

According to the organisers, the event was attended by about 13,000 citizens. For the time being, the law enforcement officials have not announced the figure for the participants in the demonstration.
