Most roads practicable in Moldova

Chisinau, 20 November /MOLDPRES/ - All roads are practicable in Moldova, except for a road segment in the central Nisporeni district, on which the movement takes place with difficulty. The head of the operative service of the State Administration of Roads, Sergiu Capatina, today made statements to this effect.
According to Capatina, it is about a segment between the settlements Iurceni and Cristesti. “Four special vehicles have been additionally sent to the district to clean roads. I believe that the road will be practicable in about three hours. During the night, 251 technology units and 254 workers intervened to clean roads and spread anti-skid material. Presently, snow removal works are carried out and trucks blocked in traffics are towed, as well as dangerous sectors are monitored,” Capatina noted.
Representatives of the Chisinau city hall told MOLDPRES that “specialized services during the night intervened to remove snow on access ways and spread anti-skid material and at present, all roads are accessible in the capital.”
Contacted by MOLDPRES, the press officer of the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (IGSU), Liliana Puscasu, said that, in the last 24 hours, rescuers and firemen had intervened in the wake of five traffic accidents occurred on roads from the districts of Leova, Dubasari, Ialoveni, Cahul and Anenii Noi. “Also, rescuers were involved in carrying out works of towing transport means skid off the roads in the districts of Straseni, Hancesti, Orhei, Ungheni, Sangerei, Ialoveni, Telenesti, Soldanesti, Criuleni, Drochia, Rezina, Balti and Nisporeni. In all, 42 transport units were de-blocked, of which three ambulances from the districts of Ungheni, Orhei and Criuleni, which were to reach patients. At the same time, 17 settlements from four districts remain partially disconnected from power supply. It is about Straseni, Orhei, Telenesti and Calarasi districts. The specialized brigades work in areas to re-connect consumers,” Puscasu said.
The head of the public relations service of the National Patrol Inspectorate, (INP), Alina Bunghez, said that, in the last 24 hours, 14 serious traffic accidents had occurred in Moldova, in the wake of which 28 people were injured. “More than 440 patrol inspectors intervened on national roads, who were asked to provide assistance in about 200 cases. At the same time, today INP officers will check in traffic vehicles’ equipment with winter tyres. The people moving with summer tyres run the risk of getting fines worth from 900 to 1,500 lei,” Bunghez noted.
The head of the meteorological forecasts centre at the State Hydrometeorological Service, Ghenadie Rosca, said that, on the days to come, the weather would keep cold. At the same time, snow is expected in some regions of Moldova.
On snowed-up roads, drivers are urged to move with low speed both in settlements and outside them, to preserve a larger distance between vehicles, so that they manage the braking manoeuvre and to avoid the parking of vehicles nearby trees. Also, rescuers urge drivers to have a shovel, sand and chains in car boots. It is also advisable that the battery of the mobile phone be charged, so that people can call the 112 emergency Service in risk situations.
