Opening of Moldovan embassy in Ireland as long-awaited step

Chisinau, 20 November /MOLDPRES/- Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Tudor Ulianovschi and Ambassador of Ireland to Moldova Derek Feely holding a meeting at the ministry welcomed the decisions of Chisinau and Dublin governments to boost bilateral relations by setting up diplomatic representations in the two capitals, the MAEIE’s press service has reported.
According to officials, the opening of diplomatic representatives will allow not only increased political dialogue, trade, cultural or other relations, but also setting up direct contact with the diaspora, will facilitate the resolution of consular problems of citizens, etc. In the dialogue, it was agreed to launch as soon as possible the diplomatic and logistical procedures for the opening of the Embassy in early 2019.
"The opening of the Moldovan Embassy in Ireland is a long awaited step by Moldovan citizens, who are in this state. We want a greater rapprochement with the citizens of the diaspora by providing quality consular assistance and active involvement of diaspora members in projects promoting our country's image in Ireland,” Ulianovschi said.
In this context, Feely highlighted the importance of boosting the interhuman relations in different sectors, the inauguration of the Moldovan Embassy in Dublin and the Honorary Consulate of Ireland in Chisinau, thus being an essential element in achieving the common goal of fully using the potential of Moldovan-Irish cooperation.
The Moldovan official highly appreciated the constant contribution of Ireland to the development of our country, which takes place through social and humanitarian assistance projects. Ulianovschi noted that the opening of the Honorary Consulate of Ireland in Chisinau will strengthen the support our country enjoys from the Irish people and will help diversify bilateral cooperation by facilitating contacts between business representatives, attracting investment and familiarizing Irish entrepreneurs with economic potential of Moldova.
