Sappers found over 60 bombs in Hancesti district

Chisinau, 20 November /MOLDPRES/- Sappers of the Codru battalion have neutralized 66 bombs found near Mingir village, Hancesti district. The explosives were of Soviet production and from the World War II.
According to the head of the Engineering Service, Lieutenant Colonel Adrian Efros, the local administration yesterday asked the demining team intervention on an arable field near the village, where a citizen discovered some explosives.
The group of sappers, led by Sergeant Eugen Axenti, discovered 66 bombs. "Ammunition had been in the soil for over 70 years and dangerous for life. The objects were taken and destroyed in a safe place," Axenti said.
According to the Ministry of Defense data, since the beginning of this year, the National Army engineers have defused 382 explosive devices in different districts of the country.
In this context, the Ministry of Defense warns people that in the case of unidentified explosive objects, it is strictly forbidden to reach them, to hit or move the ammunition, to dismantle the warheads or other components. At the same time, in such cases it is recommended to announce the local authorities.
