At the meeting, it was mentioned that within recent 3 years, Moldova has made considerable progress in the development, social protection and inclusion of children. Thus, there were carried out a series of measures, among them: increase of the unique birth allowance from MDL 3,100 – MDL 6,300, establishment of indemnity for twin children or multiple births, payment of the daily allowance for about 2,000 children separated from parents.
"Children are the future of Moldova. It is our responsibility to build a country where they can develop fully their potential and be happy. In these three years, we have built the foundation in many areas and the children are going to construct the building in the future," said PM, noting that the results are due to the good cooperation between Government, Parliament, civil society and Development partners.
In particular, Pavel Filip emphasised the necessity of ensuring a correct diet in schools, pointing out that in 2012 – 2015, the allocations for it increased by only MDL 0,50, and in 2016 – 2018 – by MDL 04: "It is not much, but if each Government had increased by MDL 04, today we would have had another situation with food in schools." In this context, the Premier referred to programme: Un mar pentru elev (An apple for the pupil), stating that it was not implemented because it would solve the problem of farmers but would not provide an efficient diet for the pupils, especially those from the rural localities, lack of apples.
Among the priorities set for the future, the PM has mentioned the elaboration of a project that will allow children from 2 years to enroll in the early education institutions, as well as the implementation of a mechanism of online registration of the newborn children in the State registry of population (RSP).
Moldova has marked 25 years since the entry into force of the Convention on the Rights of the Child, which was adopted by the UN on 20 November 1989. The convention has been ratified by over 190 countries worldwide.
