Chisinau, 21 November /MOLDPRES/- A number of 600 family doctors have submitted applications to get free practice, so far. The Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection announced that the deadline for presenting the documents was extended, in the context of requests from family doctors, preparing documents and failed their submission.
Cristina Stratulat, head of the Ministry of Health's press service, said that the deadline for submitting the documents was 18 November, and subsequently the responsible people decided to extend it without setting a deadline. This would mean that applicants will be able to submit their applications until they cover all the vacant positions of the doctors. The applications can be sent electronically and on paper to the Ministry of Health.
Under the new legislation, the doctor may choose to set up an individual cabinet, work with other colleagues in a centre of family doctors or as an employee in an existing primary care provider.
Physicians will get a territorially delimited sector that includes one or more localities, streets, houses and has a population that corresponds to the recommended average standard of 1,700 people for a practice, ranging from the minimum threshold of 1,200 and the maximum of 2,200 people. Funding will be provided by the National Health Insurance Company, depending on the number of patients and the additional services.
The new law was passed by parliament in July this year.
