IMF highly appreciates contribution of Governor Cioclea to progress made by National Bank of Moldova

Chisinau, 21 November /MOLDPRES/- The International Monetary Fund (IMF) announces it highly appreciates the contribution of Governor Sergiu Cioclea to the progress made by the National Bank of Moldova, a press release by IMF mission to Moldova reads.

“We highly appreciate the contribution of Mr. Cioclea as head of the National Bank of Moldova to the achievements, and we thank him for his excellent collaboration over the past three years. We will continue the close and constructive relationship with the National Bank of Moldova and we will work with the new governor in the dialogue with the Moldovan authorities on the economic program and the interaction of the International Monetary Fund with the authorities of the member countries," the press release said.

Governor Sergiu Cioclea presented yesterday his resignation "for personal reasons" and "private reasons" he did not note, but said that in recent years his private life has devoted to the position.

Exiting from the crisis, setting the foundations of a new banking system, transparency of shareholders and re-setting good cooperation relations with foreign partners of Moldova have been the main goals of the BNM in recent years. "These were my personal goals when I decided to compete for the position of governor of the National Bank. And this has succeeded," Cioclea said.
