Moldovan deputy premier meets US envoy

Chisinau, 21 November /MOLDPRES/- Deputy Prime Minister Cristina Lesnic met new US Ambassador to Moldova Dereck J. Hogan yesterday, the Bureau for Reintegration has reported.

Lesnic congratulated Dereck J. Hogan on his appointment and wished success in fulfilling his mandate.

The talks focused on various issues related to the Transnistrian issue, the activities in the negotiation platforms, the current issues on the agenda and implementation of the priorities in the so-called Berlin plus package.

Also, the officials approached developments in the activity of the sectoral working groups and in solving some current problems. They pointed out the intense dynamics in the interaction between Chisinau and Tiraspol and re-launching the platform for dialogue at the level of human rights experts.

Lesnic said that human rights and national security are issues that require special attention.

The officials expressed willingness to maintain and strengthen cooperation on various issues of common interest, particularly in the support for the regulatory process.
