More bilateral agreements between Moldova, Romania signed in Bucharest

Chisinau, 22 November /MOLDPRES/ - More agreements between the authorities of Moldova and Romania concerning diverse cooperation sectors today were signed in Bucharest, where a joint meeting of the two countries’ governments took place.
Thus, among the documents signed, there is a joint declaration on the removal of some roaming tariffs, protocol on the setting up of joint patrol teams at the common state border and the financing contract, Development of the national transport system in the north-eastern region of Romania to improve the zone’s supply with natural gas and ensure capacities of transport to Moldova. The authorities of the two countries also signed a declaration of intent on the creation of a framework of intensified training in the perspective of the setting up of a joint unit between the Army of Romania and the National Army of Moldova. At the same time, the officials ruled to cooperate in the fields of tourism, education and culture, agriculture, economy, health and consular protection for the people with dual citizenship.
Prime Minister Pavel Filip has said that, at the meeting, the officials analyzed the projects underway and established a plan for the future. “I reiterated that the accession to the European Union remains our only plan and our efforts will be boosted during the presidency of Romania at the European Union’s Council,” Filip said. According to the PM, Romania is the principal trade partner for Moldova and the foreign commerce increased by 30 per cent this year and exceeded one billion dollars.
„To speak out for Union has become a real trend in Chisinau. We believe that the approaches must be pragmatic and then they will yield more results. Not only tough statements give us this rapprochement, but the concrete projects. We want this union to occur through the interconnection of infrastructure in various sectors. We want our citizens not to feel when they go from one country to another,” the Moldovan PM noted.
Prime Minister of Romania Viorica Dancila said that the signing of the agreements proved that “important steps have been made and what was started today must continue in a future phase.” “We talked about the boosting of investments and the fact that we have an example, I mean here Vestmoldtransgaz, makes us believe that we also have other goals and investments which are to get closer the relations between the two countries. We spoke about the reforms Moldova should implement. Romania is willing to provide expertise for these reforms and back Moldova on its pro-European way. We consider that the pro-European road is the only solution for Moldova and for the prosperity of its citizens,” Dancila said.
This is the fourth joint meeting of the Moldovan and Romanian cabinets.
