Moldovan coaches training sportspeople getting medals at Olympic Games to receive allowances

Chisinau, 22 November /MOLDPRES/ - Coaches who trained sportspeople who had been awarded medals at Olympic Games, world or European championships for seniors might benefit from allowance. The provision is included in a draft passed by the parliament in the first reading today.
The document sees providing of an average salary on the economy for the first golden medal at Olympic Games, 0.9 of the average salary for the first silver medal got at Olympic Games, 0.8 of the average salary for the first bronze medal got at Olympic Games or for the first golden medal got at world championships, 0.7 – for the first silver medal got at world championships and 0.6 – for the first bronze medal got at world championships or first golden medal got at European championships.
The payment of the allowance will be made monthly, depending on the level of performance of the sportspeople trained. When setting the quantum of the allowance, decision-makers will use data on the average salary on the economy, communicated by the National Statistics Bureau, for the previous month to the one when the payment is to be made.
Coaches citizens and residents of Moldova, who trained sportspeople who had got medals at individual events or in teams at Olympic Games, world championships or sportspeople who got the title of European champion in seniors, will have right to get allowance. They will benefit from allowance, if they have reached the legal retirement age and have a length of service as coach of not less than 20 years. The new regulations refer also to people who worked as coaches of sports teams of the former Soviet Union.
The coaches meeting all these conditions will submit an application to the specialized central authority for confirmation. Coaches whose sportspeople have unextinguished sanctions for the infringement of the anti-doping legislation will not be eligible. For the coaches, whose sportspeople cumulate the title of Olympic champion with the one of world champion or the title of world champion with the one of European champion, the allowance provided for the best performance is cumulated with the one provided for the lower performance at the level of 50 per cent.
The amendment is to enter into force on 1 January 2019.
