Chisinau, 22 November /MOLDPRES/ – During 01 December 2018, in the context of marking the Centenary of the Great Union, citizens of Moldova and Romania will be able to talk on the mobile phone without paying roaming charges. A joint declaration in this regard was signed today after the meeting of Governments of Moldova and Romania, the government's communication and protocol department has reported.

"It is a symbolic first step. We want a common communication space. We want our citizens not to feel that they have gone from one country to another, to be able to talk on the phone without paying roaming charges," said PM Pavel Filip.

In order to facilitate the contacts between the citizens of Moldova and Romania, according to the signed declaration, Moldova and Romania undertake each other to prepare in the period immediately following the Treaty that will be concluded for the elimination of the roaming tariffs between the two countries.

After signing it, citizens of Moldova and Romania who occasionally travel to the neighbouring state will have access to roaming services for calls and SMS at national rates, and for Internet surfing they will be lowered to European common tariffs. Also, the elimination of tariffs will not affect the quality of roaming services endorsed by final users.
