Moldovan parliament passes amendment of criminal procedure code

Chisinau, 22 November /MOLDPRES/ - The person charged with the committing of a light and serious offence will be obliged not to leave the country or settlement for a period of 12 cumulative months at the most. The provisions are contained in a draft on amendment of the criminal procedure code, passed by the parliament in the first reading today.    

The measure is valid for the citizens suspected of committing a light or serious offence, for which the law sees punishment with imprisonment for a term of 12 years at the most.

The document also stimulates that these preventive measures could be ordered also for a term of 24 cumulative months at the most for the person accused of committing an offence of enhanced seriousness, for which the law sees a punishment with imprisonment for a term longer than 12 years.   

The draft is to be voted in the final reading.
