Moldova, Romania to implement new action plan on cooperation in health sector

Chisinau, 22 November /MOLDPRES/ - The Moldovan and Romanian authorities are to develop joint cross-border projects within the Romania-Moldova Joint Operational Programme 2014-2020. This is stipulated in an action plan on cooperation in the sector of health and medical sciences for 2019-2020, signed in Bucharest today, in the context of a joint meeting of the two countries’ cabinets.
The document signed also sees cooperation in the field of emergency medical assistance, active ageing, planning human resources in the health sector and modernization of the medical information system. Also, the sides will exchange experience on the implementation of reforms in the hospital sector, in primary medical assistance, emergency medical assistance and community services.
Moldova’s Health, Labour and Social Protection Ministry said that the Romanian side had committed to provide support to train medical staff and exchange useful information in priority sectors, such as: public health, transplant, infectious diseases, cross-border supervision of communicable diseases, campaigns of vaccinations, mental health, prevention of cardiovascular diseases, oncological diseases, primary medical assistance, emergency medical assistance and community services.
At the same time, Romania will provide support to adjust the legislation on the implementation of quality standards for medicines for human use and creating a framework of regulation in the pharmaceutical and medical devices sector.
