Chisinau, 22 November /MOLDPRES/ – The Moldovan and Romanian Governments have reviewed the main bilateral projects and discussed new initiatives within a common meeting. Prime Minister, Pavel Filip, has mentioned that Romania remains a lawyer and a friend in the European path of Moldova, and efforts in this direction will be intensified also in the context of holding the Romanian presidency of the EU Council, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
We are linked by our history, culture, language, values and people, but also pragmatic concrete projects, Romania being the main trading partner of Moldova. "In Chisinau, it has become a real trend to shout and declare for union. Several parties are ruling on it. But not the strong statements provide us with this approach, but the concrete projects. We want an integrated, shared infrastructure, we want this rapprochement, this union if you want, to be produced by interconnecting infrastructure across different areas, integrating our systems into transport, communications, environment, security, education and culture," said Pavel Filip.
A beautiful project, symbolically called: Autostrada Unirii, is the Targu Mures – Iasi – Ungheni road. Not less important is the construction of the Ungheni road bridge. "We talked about other bridges, because on the left side and on the right side of the Prut river, we have localities with the same name. We will also try to promote a project for the passage of the railroad to the European track and why not to have this direct connection between Chisinau and Bucharest – to launch a fast train," mentioned Pavel Filip. The equally important, with impact for the citizens of Moldova, are the construction projects of the Chisinau – Ungheni gas pipeline, but also the interconnection on electricity.
At her part, Viorica Dancila said that the support of Romania would continue and it Moldovaremain a strong supporter of Moldova: "Romania is willing to provide expertise and specialists for the initiated reforms and to support Moldova on pro – European path. We believe that the European road is the only solution for the prosperity of Moldovan citizens." Also, the Romanian PM referred that Moldova and Romania have got many common objectives ahead, and in the next stage the talks would continue on each sector.
Among the priority areas for cooperation, there were also mentioned: common border control and fluidity of traffic, modernisation of customs offices, development of border communication infrastructure and cooperation in the field of cross – border crime fighting.
A symbolic achievement is the fact that in 2018, starting 01 October, the Moldovan leu (MDL) passed the Prut river and it was accepted for foreign exchange and banking transactions in Romania. "This is how we see the unification: with concrete projects of interconnection of infrastructure between our countries. It is simple: we have the same blood. Now we have the opportunity to rebuild or build networks, according to the model of a blood system, if you want, to have an interconnected system so that the hearts in the two capitals beat at the same pace", said Pavel Filip.
